This years Festival of Nations is being Held on Sunday 23rd October 2016 Empire State Plaza – Convention Center (From 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM)
We are planning on participating in below programs and we are looking for your support as well as contribution in making it a success!
Cultural Program
Maximum of 10 minutes for as many dancers and songs as we want. The festival awards for larger groups of dancers which look better on the stage. This can be the same program as Dashain party. Can also have singers, although dancers is preferred.
Food
Volunteers needed. Sell tea and preferable a sweet or savory snack item that does not require heating. If you are interested in volunteering or have an ideas please let us know.
Craft Booth
A vendor to sell crafts from Nepal at the festival. Ideas also include henna painting on hands.
Advertisements
Need to sell at least $120 in ads for the program book. If you know someone who are interested in getting exposure in the program book and need more information, please contact Jane Thapa.
Cookbook
Recipes for a Nepali snack, main dish and dessert with some information about Nepal. If anyone has recipes to contribute, Please contact Jane Thapa.
Raffle Prizes
Need 2 gift certificates or other prizes worth at least $25 to meet this criteria. Ask whether your employer can provide a gift certificate. If provided by October 1, donor name goes in the program book.
Website
Add information about Nepal to the FON web site. This may be a good task for teens.
Miss Festival
Local women ages 14-18 may apply to represent Nepal at the Festival of Nations. A schedule for selection will be worked out with the contestants. The selection will be made in late September. Application forms must be received by September 23, and a schedule will be coordinated for the Miss Nepal selection during the last week of September. Application forms may be requested from Jane Thapa or the ANNS web site contact. The first round of Festival competition will be one weeknight evening in October and the finals will be at the Festival on October 23 from 10 am -4:30 pm Contestants must attend all three events.
Cost
Cost for entry ticket price $5 which can be purchased in the Dashain party or one of the ANNS representatives
Raffle Tickets
ANNS keeps $.50 for every ticket sold. Buy some or sell to your friends.
Parade
10-15 people to accompany Miss Nepal in Nepali clothes to represent Nepal in the parade of nations.
