Message from the President (2021-2023)

Respected Community Members,

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all the community members for your continued support. I am beyond thankful to have been given this incredible honor of serving as the fourth president of this great organization. Throughout the years, our organization has expanded vastly. Nepalese families from all over the Capital Region have come together to cherish our Nepali roots. Through our organization ANNS, we have celebrated our culture with immense pride and have laid a solid foundation for our children to fully embrace our Nepali culture.

Although we are physically thousands of miles away from our homeland, this organization has allowed us to shorten that distance in our hearts. From Teej to Dashain to playing Deusi and Bhailo to welcoming the New Year, we have all come together as one big family to celebrate different colors of our Nepali culture and have made unforgettable memories.

As our children are growing up, this organization has provided them with an invaluable resource to explore and embrace Nepali culture. While we celebrated our many different festivals, our children have learned about Nepali traditions and have actively participated in it. Nepali language classes have been established to further their understanding of our beautiful language. Furthermore, our children have proudly represented Nepal in the Festival of Nations. They have also established the Albany New York Nepalese Society Youth Club to connect deeper with their Nepali heritage and provide many leadership opportunities.

As we are ready to embark on the new term, I would like to thank our previous presidents and executive board members for their dedication and all the hard work they have done for ANNS. Our organization has continuously expanded to greater heights under their leadership. I would also like to congratulate and thank our new executive committee. It is an absolute honor to have such a wonderful team of active, creative, and hardworking individuals. As we are slowly adapting to substantial changes brought by the pandemic, it is a great comfort to have each other in this time of need. As we are surrounded by many uncertainties, our bonds and resiliency has not faltered. We can certainly brace through this pandemic with each other’s support.

With many different changes brought by the pandemic, we have gained many new experiences. Although we may not be able to come together and celebrate our festivities for the time being, technology has allowed us all to be together virtually. With your advice and suggestions, we can certainly make the most out of this situation. Therefore, I would like to encourage you all to share any ideas you may have, any activities you would like us to carry out. We highly appreciate your enthusiasm and support. As a community, we can achieve many great things and move forward to greater heights. I would once again like to thank all our respected community members for your continued support.

At last, I would like to wish everyone a happy and hopeful New Year!

Thank you,
Binod J. Thapa
