Message from former President (2019-2021)

Respected community members,

It is my great honor to write a few words as the President of Albany New York Nepalese Society. First, I would like to express my gratitude to you all for entrusting me with the responsibility of ANNS President and supporting the society in every endeavor. The Capital Region is a great place to live due to the positively motivated Nepalese community assembled under ANNS. We are working hard to unite all Nepalese families living in the capital region in order to celebrate our heritage and empower our children. We would also like to make ANNS a perfect platform for our children to learn Nepali language, culture and heritage. So, I would like to encourage you to be a member of this great organization to help the society grow further. There is nothing more rewarding than supporting our community and working for the society.

Albany New York Nepalese Society (ANNS) has begun its third working phase with a dynamic team of highly motivated and active board members. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all board members of ANNS for their enthusiasm and support for the society. ANNS has grown significantly in the four year period since its establishment in May 2015. Celebration of Nepalese cultural events, participation in festival of nations, execution of Nepalese language class and publication of Albany Chautari are some examples of significant works accomplished by ANNS in its first four year period. For this accomplishment, the first ANNS board formed under the leadership of Dr. Ashok Sedhai and the second ANNS board formed under the leadership of Dr. Krishna P. Devkota contributed significantly and I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate all board members of previous two committees for their tremendous work towards the society.

As you know, working for the society is a team effort and we can achieve significantly when we work together. Please, bring up your ideas on how we can work and accomplish better for the welfare of the society. I am excited to hear the types of activities members want us to carry out to empower our children. I would also like to inform you that you can go through the ANNS by-laws as posted on ANNS website and advise us for short term and long term goals that society should follow to grow effectively in the days to come. Most importantly, we appreciate your support. Please be a member of the society, participate in every event and be a great inspiration for all Nepalese people living in the capital region.

Thank you,
Laxmi Prasad Baral
(President)
