Message from former President (2017-2019)

Krishna P. Devkota, Ph.D. (President)

Respected Community Members,
Namaskar and Happy Nepali New Year 2074!

I would like to begin by thanking everyone for allowing me to be your next president. I feel an incredible honor and privilege for your trust and faith on me. I am fortunate to have a very dynamic team of executive committee and board of directors. I am very excited to have this wonderful team of active, proficient and motivated people representing different locations of the Capital Region Albany Area. I would like to congratulate all members of the executive committee and board of directors for getting elected through our communal harmony for next two years!

In 2015, Albany New York Nepalese Society (ANNS) was established so that we could keep in touch with our Nepali heritage and culture. Within these two years, ANNS has done so many incredible activities to bring us together as one big Nepali family. Personally, I am so amazed by how much ANNS has grown up and progressed since its establishment under the leadership of Dr. Ashok Sedhain. I would like to give my sincere thanks to Dr. Sedhain and his team members for their countless efforts and hours and hours of volunteer work to bring this society in this height. I hope that in, not just the next two years but for all the years after that, we will get to continue the events from the past as well as build up new ones from this foundation that’s been created.

We not only celebrate the events for fun but so that our children won’t forget our Nepali culture and heritage. We are very rich in our culture and traditions, which if not transferred to our children, we will be incomplete. ANNS has continued to grow and hopefully, we will keep on growing as a family as proud Nepalese.

Despite being far away from home, we have created another home right here in Albany. We will continue to build this home to be as best as it can be. I want all the members to know that I am very grateful for this home and family that has continued to grow bigger. The only reason that it is standing now and in the future is because of your care, support, and participation.

I know that we can achieve some incredible things as a community and family in the coming years and for that I am thankful for your continuous support and inspiration.

Dhanyavad,
Dr. Krishna P. Devkota
